Not gotten too much done on the Trail Boss as of lately, wifey handed me the "newly revised" honey-do list...lol....I got the rebuild kit for the clutch, and the metal to fab up the engine mount...
Thinking about starting my gas stuff this weekend....been about 2 years....I think my neighbors miss the noise....lol
My biggest expense is going to be tires....I plan on reusing many of the parts from the sled (the belt, fuel tank, fuel pump, voltage reg and fuse block and some other little bit and pieces)....kinda...
I thought once the bands were dunked in gear oil they unglue themselves? Being a Sierra Trail Boss, you really think it's worth putting the time/cash into?
Well I was tinkering around with my new project and popped the plug on the T-20 and guess what I found inside??? Yep you guessed it....milky white GEAR OIL!!! Now I have to pull the trans and rebuild...
So I've read....the ones I've been looking at are used units from other sleds with around the same CC's as my engine....
Well got my "new" rollers in the mail for my clutch, gotta love NOS parts!! Gonna pick up the assorted pieces I need to fab in the engine mount this weekend...hopefully by Sunday I'll have it mounted...
I just have to figure out how to get the cash out of the bank without the boss finding out...lol
I called the guy and questioned him on it...it's an 89-90, has title, has a 16hp briggs twin in it, fairly new tires, new battery, the tub is in great shape , no cracks or holes and has a widshield...
I have to go and see it yet, I appreciate the info, I'm thinking of picking this up instead of redoing the Trail Boss...if I can get it for a nice price and it's not beaten up to badly....
I got a lead on a Max 6X6 (an older one in the 70's)...needs work, so far the owner has told me it needs a throttle cable and a bearing on one axle....it probably needs more I'm sure...whats a decent...
It was Bazooo....the owner before me had taken out the siezed 2 stroke and transplanted the Briggs engine, but the original was a 297 Kohler 2 stroke...
Good stuff...so basicly the article is stating that the larger tires do affect the final ratio....and the fact that a lot of machines run 20-22 inch tires and a 9-9.5 dia driven and mine running 18's...
Well I got a 910 Salsbury clutch that I'm currently rebuilding for my primary, mocked the stripped parts engine in today to get an idea of the mounting position... everything cleared and fits nicely,...
Anybody have a good source to get throttle cables? I'm going to put a hand throttle on my Trail Boss project rather than the foot pedal...
I'm just going to get some NOS rollers off eBay, for $30 bucks they ain't worth messing with...lol...I'm going to use this clutch as my primary, all the other parts look to be in decent shape....just...
Great manual....I also found a thread on rebuilding them...it looks like a Salsbury 910, I got it apart and eveything is in good shape....just dirty, although the rollers are rusted....I got them...
Ok...I got the other Salsbury clutch off the parts engine...here are the pics...
the clutch on the right is the one I just pulled off and is a bigger unit than the one I was going to use......
Here is the link to the Hex Clutch service manual I found if anyone needs it.....

The first one I got apart...it has rollers in it...but they ain't rollin....lol I gotta pull the rest of the shaft off....it's splined on the inside...I found a repair/service PDF file on the...
