Chain tensioner for a max IV

I was wondering what way the chain runs over/under the tensioner on my mid to late eighties max IV. It has the sprocket style tensioner. The way it is running now is from the rear it goes UNDER to the mid than OVER to the front. It seemed weird to me this way. Any info would be nice. Thanks

The tensionor sprockets should be on top of the chain pushing down.

    See if this photo helps:

Thats the way mine is too. Need to see what the front chain looks like. My tensioner is under the chain pushing it up.

The middle and the front tensioners should all be set up the same. They should be pushing down on the chain.
