Throttle cable Replacement

Heated Throttle cable just broke on my 2001 Max II, appears to be rusted in the middle, easy enough repair. Any suggestions on how or why moisture got into the cable housing.

Basically the throttle cables on Max ATVs are all run in a "U" shape. They go up the right lateral, down through the tub along the frame rail and then back up to the engine. Even a slight amount of moisture that gets in there can freeze it up and I believe the water gets in from the throttle handle past that little rubber cap and after being used with up and down motions of the throttle cable, moisture inevitably seeps through. The best thing to do to prevent this is to lube the throttle cable and the cable lube will prevent freeze ups and rust on heated and non heated throttle cable assemblies.
