    Max II sproket replacement question

    I am new to the 6x6 so please ignore my ignorance. My right center wheel sprocket has stripped all its teeth and I am not sure how to remove the center axle to fix it. Also not sure which sprocket I need to order. Its the center main drive sprocket.

    Ive watched one of yalls videos on how to change the front axle but everything is so tight on the center axle. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks!

    What year max is it? You'll need to take the eccentrics off. I had some frozen on, tried two pipe wrenches, ended up taking a grinder with a cutting wheel to them, then opening them up with a chisel. Your sprocket may slide off easy, but if it is frozen, then you may as well cut it apart as well.

    as garrett said, if it's a splined axle then first remove the wheel. then remove the nuts that hold on the outer bearing flange. also remove the chain. then the bearing on the inner frame that the axle goes in to will have a collar on it that locks the axle in place. that collar is held in place with a allen screw. remove that srew and there may be another one under that one. remove it if it's there. there is usually another hole on that collar besides the threaded one. take a old srewdriver or punch and with a hammer try and spin that collar clockwise or counterclockwise until the collar breaks loose from the bearing. at that point the whole axle will slide out as long as the sprocket will slide off the axle as you pull it out of the machine. if it's not a splined axle, someone else will give you the scoop. good luck, johnboy va.

    Not sure on the year. Think its a splined axle. Its the round headlights which is early to mid 90s right? How is the sprocket held on? Suggestions on where to buy a new one? Thanks again for the quick responses. Yall rock!

    William take a picture and show everyone what you are working with.
    If you can see a large bolt going through the sprocket tube it's not splined, if you can see grooves running the length of the inner part of the axle it's splined.


    My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.
