I have 1991 max iv yesterday started it up to run for awhile, when i was ready to shut it down flipped the fuel shut and turned the key off and would not shut down.. tried to choke it down still...
Just checking things out I went to take the max 4 for a ride today and soon as I got in it I broke the cable so I've already bought one oh in the last eight or nine years so I've seen a few of you...

Max iv 1991 starts and runs than it will stall sounds like it is not getting fuel. I pull carb apart and spary it with cleaner and it will start again and it will run for awhile and stall again....
I have maxiv with b& s vanguard 16hp. I have cleaned the carb a number of times and I will be running just fine and will stall. Acts like not getting fuel... Disassemble bowl it is full spray cleaner...
Sometimes the amp meter has a reading then it doesn't

Tbone9 if that is not the problem what else could it be? The other side that jumped the sprocket the trany is moving free, but I cannot get the master link on, to tight.
Yes it is the older style 1990s and definitely will pull the rear seat before I pull the engine thank you for getting back to me
how many bolts hold the transmission. are those slotted holes for adjusting. what is the easy way to get to them
The one on the right side, atthe double sprocket main drive chain. The left side main drive chain is really tight with the adjuster loosened up and that will not turn. the other side in neutral shaft...

my ignition switch does not match the diagrams. the wires in my 5 pin don"t match. I will have to rewire the whole thing... if I jump at the solenoid it starts and runs thanks i am going to keep...
the new ones are $40.00 and 7 pin not 5 pin is there an aftermarket with 5 pins? Is there anyway to test those switches?
