Congrats Dan:
Sounds like a high-powered, maneuverable little machine. Can't wait to see it in action.
The 27hp Kawasakis have those solenoid and grounding strap issues for sure. My ztr has this engine and its been a problem for years. I think I'm on solenoid number 9 and the ztr is 14 years old.
Since you provided a list of items you have done, I believe you have either a bad starter solenoid or there is still an issue with the wiring such as a loose connection or an internal break in a...
I like the 24" Argo tires. They swim well, mud well, and are light weight. They are not the most durable tire though. I have a high quality tire sealant in mine so that thorns or tree roots don't do...

It may also be a bad ground. Sometimes the ground wire can corrode within the rubber casing and cause a bad connection. I would grab the wire and feel along the thing for a bad spot....
Check the battery is actually charged up to 12.2 volts at minimum. Check the connections again to make sure nothing got connected to the wrong terminal. Lastly check your engine oil as the low oil...
Argo makes the best drain plug assemblies these days. Most Hustlers only have one plug so I suggest if that is the case for yours to add a 2nd one.

I have a factory set of Max2 rubber tracks. They may suit your needs. They are heavy as all get out. Will sell for $500 + shipping. I live in Texas, shipping will be pricey but...
The rubber tracks on a max 2 will remove the amphibious capability of the machine, they are just too heavy. Adair tracks work though.
I had a Terra Tiger around 1972. It was pretty well built and heavy. I hated having no reverse as that was absolutely a deal breaker. I got rid of the T.T. as quickly as I could find a Hustler 950.

Could have been your Uncle's machine. I was in the Montauk State Park area on vacation when I saw it. Mapquest shows that is close to Licking, Mo. Its a small world.
I remember seeing one of those in Missouri around the 1984 timeframe. I thought it was a Coot at first glance, then realized it was a Hustler company product. Thanks for posting.
I wouldn't try it. These machines ride rough enough with air in the tires. I could only imagine the beating on just rims. I would think the bearings and chains would be even shorter lived than they...
Battery voltage? I have a ZTR with a Kohler 27hp that did the same thing. If voltage went below 12.3 volts, I got the annoying click. The battery was switched out to a lithium Amazon special...
My experience has been on product liability issues and warranty issues to make a video and upload it to sites the offending vendors will take note of. For example: this site, the dealer's site, the...
Some do have 1-1/8.
Try Richard's Relics. They have supplied me with several over the years.
I hope this works out. Would love to see another company out there producing vehicles and supporting the industry.
