    Hey Richie,
I believe this is the stuff your thinkin' of.

    https://www.ebay.com/p/3M-Strip-Rope...4265282&chn=ps

I use it on my machines. Silicone is ok too but difficult to separate in some applications.

Talk to your local glass shop, here it is called windshield ribbon seal. Will probably be larger needing to be leaned out.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

Gonna nemed to fit new bearings on the other rear axle too, as the last owner has put the outer bearing in wrong way round

I did message the seller, he said that the other stuff in the cartridge is ideal for what I want it for, I asked about the tape one and he replied ( it is, it's easy to apply but not quite as sticky or pliable. Thanks)
So not 100% sure about the tape?

On my max I have one axle that has a step in the shaft that take the inner bearing, this is a smaller centra bearing than the outer one, is this normal on the rear axles? Just my others seem to be the same size with the bearing locking collar .
