The Max II factory winch mount actually just bolts to the upper body and also has a piece of flat steel under the lip of the lower body where the upper and lower come together. You'll be able to see it better in this picture. I have this setup on my Max II and it works great.

Maybe its just me but it took me a bit to understand the image but winch mounts on the horizontal plate and in the image the machine would face left. Thought it may help others or maybe it would only help me, lol.

I made this winch mount out of scrap metal laying around and I put a piece of angle iron as a backing plate and it works well. I have pulled my max out quit a few times with no problems. I have good luck using Gorilla 2500lb winches. Good Luck
