Hello everyone! I've been lurking for a while and I'm finally breaking radio silence. I've loved AATV's since I was a kid in the 1970's and a family friend bought one.
I bought a Max IV a couple of weeks ago (year unknown, round headlights) and after attending to the usual maintenance items, noticed that the legroom is not all it could be. In fact my wife complained bitterly about the lack of passenger comfort. I ordered a suspension seat from Northern Tool and set to work. Although I had searched the forum to see how other folks had done it, I kinda went my own way with the installation. I replaced the whole rear floor with a plywood floor that rests atop the inner frame rails. Two plywood outriggers extend down to the outer rails so the floor doesn't rock, and I cut two square holes to clear the chain tensioner brackets. The seat is lag-screwed to a short section of 2x8 that runs the length of the floor and is screwed to it. A 5" high plywood lip attached to the aft end of the floor keeps cargo and passengers out of the machinery. I also replaced the (broken) throttle lever with an aluminum mountain bike brake lever from my junk box.
Welcome to the site. Nice mod on adding the suspension seat. It sure will help out. Your max looks good and it looks like you have plenty of land to ride on. Thanks for sharing some pictures.
