    Max IV winch size

2500 lb, 3500 lb, 5000 lb. Which winch? I want enough to get me out of a jam without taxing the electrical and/ or factory winch mount.

In my opinion you can't have to much winch. Factory installed were 2500# for many years and is sufficient for most vehicles. I've been pulled out of many places with a person pulling on the winch cable. I've also had to double line to pull a heavy truck out of soft muck. Overall just moving a couple feet many times has you on the move again.

I'd highly recommend an American made winch of 2500 or higher.
I once had a 2000 pound Chinese winch on a dinky little Honda Recon. It couldn't pull worth its price (50 bucks). Worthless.
