    electrical accessories, too much?

I have a 94 max with a 16hp Vanguard engine. I was wanting to add 4 of the off road lights and 2 power outlets. I was going to upgrade to the small optima battery or a similar high end battery. Will running this much be too much for the alternator on this small engine? Additionally, if I decide to also run a trolling motor, occasionally, will I need a separate battery for this, I would like to avoid the additional weight of another battery if possible? thanks.

That sounds like a lot of lights. But, you need to figure out how many amps each of your accessories will draw. I think the charging system on a 16 hp briggs is around 16 amps or so. So figure out if you can keep it below that. Just fuse everything and wire it with heavy enough wire.

You could hook up a small car alternator, like a few people on this site did, if you needed more power.

Wow, that sounds like a pain inthe butt. How difficult is that to do?

Here is one thread about it. I think there are a few other people who also did it. An alternator is an option from Argo.

Now days with the LED lights out there you can run TONS of light and use very little power. Here is a link to a nice trio of products from superbrightled.com

I know it is a bit after the fact but this might help others...
