Axle Removal

OK LET HEAR EVERYONE TRICK TO GET THERE AXLES OUT....JUST GOT A MAX IV AND ADDING MY SNOWPLOW . 1 AXLE JUST POPPED RIGHT OUT AND THE NEXT 1 IS BEING A %@#$*. OK I`VE LUBED WITH PENETRATING OIL, I`VE HEAT AND COOLED W THE FIRE WRENCH AND I`VE BEAT IT LIKE I STOLE IT. ANYONE ELSE HAVE ANY SECRET METHODS.........

I DO HAVE THE 2 COLLARS LOOSE AND THE SPROCKET TUBE. LOOKS TO BE STUCK IN THE BEARINGS............

I just got done pulling all six axles, in my MAX IV today. Got a little advice from what Ive learned/tested.

1. To remove ceased lock collars drill out the set screw if you cant remove it. Then try turning it with a couple of pipe wrenchs, one on the outside of the body, one on the inside. If you can get it you break loos, your good!

2. If the more simple method is not working, try the scary step. Take a grinder with a grinding wheel (NOT A CUTTING WHEEL!!) grind in line with the axle, leave the lock collar and bearing together. Cut thru the race the ball bearings, then remove the outter part, by take a small hammer a smacking the the race, it will brake in half and come off.

3. At this step you should have a lock collar and the inner bearing race on the axle still. Take the grinder to the lock collar and the beraing race at the same time keeping it even depth as you grind. Just take your time and WATCH THE DEPTH! Take it down to about of 1/8" 1/16" on both collar and bearing. Take a hammer and chisle into the grove of the lock collar, you should be able to spin it. After slide it away from the bearing, then do the same hammer chisle to the bearing. If they move, keep working them with some channel locks.

P.S. dont worry about the outter bearings, you can remove them after you remove the axle.
