Hello, what size tires did you use? my wife and I have a Max IV and like your idea very much! about how long was the length of each track? I have a 2009 Max IV with a 18hp briggs engine. I don't plan on using such a deeplugs as yours. Thanks !!! john

Did you track design swim at all?

I am going to try to build a track similar to yours. I will be putting the tracks on my 1996 Max IV. my question is how did you clean the excess rubber knobs of the inside of your truck or did you? I think they would work great for my Maine winters. Thanks Dave

Whew, I had to send that in 3 pieces
A 1000 character limit is rediculous on a message board :-)

Did you put anything inside your rubber tracks to help with tire slip (Either increase it or decrease it)? Mine have what looks like pieces of UHMW "Flatbar" across the inside. I suspect that they were put there to help the tires slip a little bit to reduce chain windup tension. Even with those I still have to closely watch my tire pressures to help ease the windup tension as much as possible. If I don't do that, tension will build and when the tire finally slips a bit inside the track it can make a hell of a BANG and jolt the whole drivetrain.

LOL, well maybe they will cure cancer, if I keep smoking cigars I might just find out :-)
Seriously though, does that mean that you have heard more good than bad about them. I'm not religious about these things, and have only just got mine as you probably know. The best inteligence I can get is that they have not been tested too much in Winter conditions, but since I have Supertracks and Rubber Tracks I really don't need to run the Adairs in the Snow. Playing with them in the Winter is just something to do while I await the big melt.

That was a major concern of mine too, but when I posted the question I was told that it's not an issue. I have a vast amount of experience with UHMW and know how tough it is, but I was worried that I might be able to snap a chain in the track or something. It seems that the new generatin of Track is fitted with "Case Hardened Chain" to help eliminate stretch and increase strength. I forgot what the new chain is rated at, but I think the older generation was rated at something like 850lbs (There is a Centaur that has been running the older generation 24" wide Adairs for the last 2 yrs without any issues at all, so I think the chains are strong enough).
Why did he have to take the whole track system apart? They look like they are just screwed into the faces. Those studs don't look like they are going to help him all that much, but like I said in that other post, I don't know much about Picks/Studs.

Oh come on, You're not mad at me for that comment, are you? I was kidding :-) I even hinted that my father was from "over there".

I am going to try a few different types of "Traction Enhancers", and like I said, I'm mostly interested in the Cleats. They are prototypes at the moment, but if they work well, they will be put into production. We'll see.

Thanks for the pic though, I apreciate it, has he had any problems with them ripping out of the track grousers?

    Have a good day
