  1. Hey Bud, I just now read your message about hard starting on the vanguard.. sorry. Don't remember if you upped the compression or not, but just losing the compression release on the stock cam can cause hard starting. The tighter you run the valve lash, esp on the intake, the later it closes and that can help cranking. Also if you go through the starter, clean out the gap between commutator segments, and lube the bushings, etc. They say it helps to increase the battery cable size..

Hello roger got a question for ya got my engine good now i ended up removing the valve seals thats why i broke a rocker arm very happy with the performance now my starter is really having trouble turning this thing over battery is good all the connections are good i have the offset keyway in it im wondering with the advanced timing is this the problem ?
  3. I'm not running roller rockers. Whose cam did you buy. and what springs are you using. My cam is easy on the valvetrain.

    Read this link about stock rocker arms, and see if you have the weak ones or the better ones.

  4. hey roger i got a good one for ya are you running roller rockers in your motor i just snapped a rocker arm in mine i have about 3 hrs on the motor and i like the power.
