  1. I was running them year round but took them off last laborday weekend to see what it was like riding up your way. I actually like the tires better up in Maine. Although I did get stuck once and had to winch out. I like the new machines but want the laterals. Like I said I never got to full throttle going up some big hills. with about 500 lbs in passenger and another 30 in guns and ammo. Not even close in the 18.
  2. I've read the thread about the briggs from start to finish and have spoken with Noel woods about his experience with the 23 motor and mods he tried to get his Argo running smooth. I found it was all heat issues with my old 18 and what he was dealing with. My brother and I went for a trip down the river once and the heat coming off the motor was unreal but it ran without hiccup. Now this motor I don't get nearly the heat build up but all because of the way I set up the fans to exhaust the heat. I also don't think Noel ever really got to the correct conclusion and resolution to the problem. As someone told him those engines aren't made for sitting in an engine compartment I believe is correct but they aren't built just for power washers and such. I would have loved to have installed a liquid cooled Kawasaki motor but yeah I couldn't see it fitting. The 23 went in without a modification but is very close to the transmission and the air cleaner is right at the top of the upper body
  3. Hey Tom, so far so good. The power thing I don't notice so much but she idles without fluctuation. I probably could have gotten that same results with a new 18 but the 23 was a good deal. I would like to get the idle down just a tad for shifting but that issue is intermittent. I was out plowing friday before work and she shifted no problem. Last summer I was up your way and putting her through it's paces and no issue. Now that I think about it I never got to full throttle climbing hills with my brother and I and a load of guns in the back, so that was nice. The fans I put in to push out the air around the muffler and exhaust pipe really does keep the hood warm to the touch instead of hot.

How's the weather up there thinking of doing a winter ride and shoot. Got alot of snow up there?
  4. Send pics if you an. Are you replacing all of your bearings? Weather is finally breaking temp wise here anyway. We will have to get the new englanders together for a ride. Have you got a swampy area near you. I haven't found any real areas like that in maine yet but have used them in the ossipee river the property is on. I also just got in touch with an old friend from college who lives up in Philips maine not far from you and our property.
  5. Hey Junkman, the bigfoot is riding well. Haven't riden uch since laborday up in Maine. Been busy trimming and painting the house, but once I get that done I plan on installing the 23HP motor I bought. If I'm not mistaken you are up in Sanford. I go up to a place in Freedom right on the New Hampshire line but ride the atv trails in Maine. You are not that far from where we turn off 95 to get on 4 to our place. We need to get a ride together for the New Englanders, preferably up north.
