So it dies when it gets warm. No spark at spark plug. What kind of signal or voltage should I have going to the external coil? During crank.

When I look at it I realize it cant be that ground cable. The starter wouldn't have worked without it.
It still died after 15 minutes or so. Started back up after 20 or so. Had to pull the neg wire on the coil to kill it when i got it in my shop. There is a cable from the cradle to the chassis and one...
So here is a question for ya. I replaced the wire from g on ignition switch to chassis ground. went to test drive it and it wont shut the engine off by the key. Does the ground wire go to other...
Well tonight is slightly different. I found what I am gonna call a "weak" spot in the ground wire that goes from neg to ground on the external coil. I replaced it with a wire that has alligator ...
Ya I have changed the plug. The wire is new that came with the coil
This thing just keeps throwing me curve balls. Like I said it runs great for about 10 minutes then loses spark. I have replaced the external coil to no avail. I even put the other coil back on while...
Who is Don?
So where does a person find part numbers for parts? I see a few available on ebay but without a part number i don have a way to verify that it is the correct one
Replaced the coil and condenser. still dies after 10 to 15 minutes of idle time. I guess I'll replace the coil by the points next. It did seem to idle fine till I tried to put it in gear and drive...
Replaced the condenser. Didn't fix it
I did replace the carb BTW. I put a new Mikuni on it.
Now runs great. Until engine gets warm. Maybe 5 minutes. then it dies and no spark. Could the new coil be breaking down. the coil doesn't feel hot to the touch. Let it cool and engine fires right...
It's got what I assume is the original mikuni on it now. I took carb apart. One of the float pins is missing.
Well it runs but floods out pretty quick. Fouls the plug (wet) fuel runs out of the exhaust too. I'm assuming a carb problem. Could it be the floats?
So what fuel mixture are you guys running in the JLO? 20:1 is definitely too rich. I'm fouling plugs within a minute or so.
Well the coil fixed it. I actually drove it for the first time tonight. Got some adjustments to do but I'm happy that it can move on it's own. Thanks for all the help and advice. I'm sure more will...
Had an old ignition coil laying around from an old three wheeler. Adapted it to bolt up and wire up. It runs believe it or not. Got a new coil ordered. Not real sure how to test a coil but just...
Ok. Replaced points and condenser. Set gap and timed. Put engine back in and it actually started on ether for a few seconds. Twice. Now it's back to the same thing. No start!! Still have spark and...
I am having trouble finding them. Do you happen to have part numbers so I can get the correct ones?
