Thanks for the replies, will have a look at the air filter
Hi Glen
Plugs are a bit black and have petrol on them. Engine only starts with a bit of choke, but will idle ok,just hell of a smoke when gunning engine.
Hi guys
Put a bit too much oil in my Magnum M18 and now she belges out clouds of smoke and backfires, cutting out when the throttle is released. Have taken the excess oil out.
Any suggestions...
What are peoples thoughts on the argo body flexing,is this perhaps a contributory factor on its ability to "go anywhere". What would be the result if this flexing did not happen, ie with a new design...
Anyone got a solution to slider blocks (chain tensioners) on a Magnum turning over onto the wrong side when the argo is moving. All new chains and blocks installed, but it still keeps on happening;...
I would say that there are two forces at work here; one is the argocat that has in the sales brochure a figure quoted regarding the % of gradient that the machine is capable (safely) of traversing....
Have had the same trouble myself with the Magnum, the wire is practically impossible to re connect and is often pulled away when changing the oil filter which as you know is not the easiest job. In...
Magnums are fairly greedy when it comes to spark plugs, replace them soon as and dont expect them to last a lifetime, they wont. Also have you checked that the choke is operating properly,ie fully...
Many thanks to RD and Smog for your input; making up tracks is certainly an option. Obviously we dont get anything like the snow that you guys get, infact this year hardly any, just storm force winds...
Thanks RD, they would mainly be for snow, so from what you say, I would probably be better with the full set, trouble is they are mega bucks over here.
Anyone give me an idea as to the worth of buying a set of half tracks for my Magnum and if so would I fit them over the first two or the last two tyres
Oil filter is at front of engine on a Magnum 18, diufficult to get at and diufficult to see, needs an oil filter wrench of some sort to take off. When changing oil use a syphon through the dipstick....
Need changing at approx 3mm,but better to change them if they are looking used, they are an essential part of the works ecpecially when your coming down a steep hill !!!!!!!!
I get my spares from Richard Walsh, wwwargocat.com,but there are others, another dealer in Carlisle I beleive, Richard is very helpful with any questions. Re your question on brake pads, I dont...
For argo tyres, try Allterraintryes.co.uk Deestone 930 22/11/8 4 ply.
Good luck withthe Magnum, its the best Argo ever made, will last a lifetime and is very easy to maintain.
NCT glad to hear someone else has experienced the dreaded dead starter, however I think it doesnt quite beat the shear pins on an old argo abandoning ship at 7 at night, way out on the hill with a...
On the subject of firing up a Magnum, its not a good move to keep on turning the starter motor over, they dont appreciate it (as stated in the Magnun manaual) and if the motor does fail, it is a hell...
Should not be any smoke , just at start up. My Kohler 18 has done over 1000 hours and is as good as the day it was put in. Give it a good run before you start to tinker.
Keep us posted and good luck
22X11x8 will fit no problem. Argo Magnum is the number one model and let no one tell you diffrent.
