I am a 70 year old newbie. Bught a used MAX II and cant get the thing into reverse. The MAX is a ninetys something and seems to run well forward but no back up. I have never had any mechanical skills and suppose I shall have to learn! The Nova Scotia woods will get to see a lot of this machine if things go well

    Hello,

I am from Upstate NY. I have a 1974 Cushman trackster. I bought it about 6 months ago and I have been doing an engine upgrade in my spare time. I am almost ready to re install a 24 hp Honda. I know it isn't a 6x6 but it seems to have a lot of the same characteristics. I joined mostly out of interest in designing my own vehicle. I have had good luck with tracks over tires and I see that is fairly common here. I have enjoyed all the info I have seen while lurking here prior to joining.

    Thanks

Hi Clyde, welcome to the site. If the Max shifts into reverse fine, make sure you pull back on the sticks to go in reverse. It is a little hard to figure out if you have never driven one before. If it just won't shift into reverse, then look on top of the T20 transmission. There are two diamond shaped shifters, one on each side of the transmission. That is what the shifter linkage is connected to. See if you can operate those by hand. You may have to rock your Max back and forth while you shift each side into gear. If that works, then you may just need to lubricate the shifters by putting a little oil under the diamond shifter. If those diamond shifters move but you still do not have reverse then you most likely have a pin missing off the bottom of the diamond shifter. There are a lot of threads in the transmission forum of this site that address that issue. If you have any more technical questions just start a new thread in the Transmission forum and someone can help you out.

Hi Trackster, welcome to the forums. It's good to have another Cushman guy on board. There are a few members here that also have Tracksters.

    Hello everyone,

I am joining with the hopes of soon owning a 6X6 or 8X8. Wife and I have 3 boys and a girl and are looking to get a toy that we can all enjoy. We have quads and bikes, but would like something we can all pile in and go anywhere, so thats how I ended up on this site... We are a military family stationed in southeastern Indiana, pretty much in the middle of nowhere (just the way I like it), between Louisville, Cincinnati and Indianapolis.

We are wanting to trade our least used toy for hopefully a Max IV or Argo Conquest (or somthing similar), so here it goes... We have a 1979 Mercury Cougar XR-7 with 42,xxx original miles, the car is rust free, unmolested and 100% original besides a Holley carb and a street dominator intake. New tires, perfect interior, new brakes and tires all the way around. A/C, Cruise control, factory eight track player works, as does everything else. Anolog clock in dash is the ONLY thing in the car that does not work, but it's still right twice a day... This could be a show car (with minimal effort), a daily driver, or a sunny day cruiser (which is what my wife and I have used it as). Car stays in garage and does not see rain or snow and does not get left out in the sun.

So with that said, I am not trying to pedal my junk on this site, nor am I a used car dealer trying to make a buck. I have tried Craigslist and I am rather sick of all of the scams. I, like most other people it seems, am rather cash poor at the present time, so in order to get a new toy, an old toy must go, and the cougar gets the least attention.

If by chance you find yourself with an unused toy, similar to the ones I listed above (in the 5k-6k range, in good condition and not in need of any repair), PLEASE get ahold of me. I will be more than happy to send any pictures you wish and am more than willing to help in any way possible with the transfer of our toys. Thank you!

best of luck from alaska! Craigs list that couger or try sellin it at a used car show You should be able to get a max IV (max four) or an argo 8x8. Anything argo wise, make sure it has NO shear pins on the axels and double roller chain, and you should be set! The great thing about bolth those machines it that you can put tracks, tops, winshilds cabs and whatever in them and the family will be dry, warm and happy all four seasons!!! Good luck!

Ok gabba3t, here is a site called Cougar Club of America: Cougar Club of America
they may give you a little help on the item. I am a member but not had much contact in several years. I have a 68 XR7 and am fond of these vehicles. The actually have a forum for car to sell. So give them a shout about the vehicle and give it a good home.

Thanks for your service to your country

    Howdy!

I ended up here after seeing my first Cushman Trackster a couple weeks ago, googled around for all the info I could find, and stumbled on the 6x6 website. I have to say, whipper ag looks like he has a blast in the Spider he's built.

So far, I haven't seen anything in the way of Attex ATV's around the Oregon area on craigslist, but I'm itching to build one with a springer setup. I settled on Attex as I like the somewhat old school look of the headlights, and they just seem like a great all-around ATV.

Thanks for all the great info presented in the forums!
    Jeremy
