New to argos, lots of questions.

I just picked up an old argo. The owner said its like a '70 or '72, he doesn't know. How can I find out? Its in pretty rough shape, the tub is shot, lots of large cracks. It has the old one piece rim/tire things, all but one are ****. So my questions are,
1: Can the tub be repaired, will fiberglass or epoxy stick to the plastic? I have a buddy who works at a bathtub factory, I'm thinking maybe I could bring him my tub and he could spray the whole thing with fiberglass and either just strengthen it, or maybe use it as a mold to make a new one. Any thoughts on this?
2: what is the cheapest way to get working wheels on it? I'm thinking I can make an adapter to a four wheeler wheel and just get some cheap wheels and tires from harbor freight or surplus center.
3: To take it all apart, do I just remove the wheels, remove the axles, then can you lift the whole carriage with the motor and everything out of the tub?
I don't know what model it is or anything, I just think its like early 70's, is there a manual available for this type of argo?
    Thanks alot. -Sam

First i will give it to you straight from the shoulder. It's a parts machine and in my opinion you will sink a ton of time and money into it and still have a 70's machine. With big holes and cracks in the tub it will be a nightmare to keep water tight. If the machine tub and frame were in great condition that would be another story. Not trying to dampen your spirits about this. It could be converted to a racer but putting it into the water, no. There is a newer machine out there with your name on it. Be patienet and watch the site and other internet bidding locations. This site has a excellent buyers guide to utilize when you go to purchase or look at a machine with print out check lists. Jumping into this sport on a machine that is that old and in very bad condition something dampens peoples opinion of the machines. This is just my opinion.

Yeah, you are probably right. I got it for $200, running, so I couldn't pass it up. I'm not expecting it to come out nice, by any means. I'm not planning on like crossing lakes or anything, I just want something that drives and at least sorta holds out water, so I can go down muddy trails and stuff.

Hey for a $200.0 machine running your not too bad. LIke you said. Cross some mud holes, play here and there why not? I learned the hardway as well/.. I bought 2 older 70''s machines as well and now I have a 2009 Frontier. We are still building the 70's one but thats because the frame and axels were in great shape. I picked up a new tub for 150 bux. WQill be a fun racer for sure..

If it runs why not fix it up with little investment and see what you think of the Argo's before spending big $$$ on a newer one... Just my 2 cents worth....

    Good luck and enjoy!!!!

i agree with the rest of the boys here on that one, for two hundred bucks i think i would use that machine and turn it into a camper trailer or some kind of trailer to pull behind the good one that youll be getting, once youve driven one of these youll want a good one LOL
