registering an max iv as a sled in ny. state

I own a max iv 950t and have it registered as a atv and a boat. I read a thread from mad-max- 500cc who lives in NY. state which said you could also register as a sled with tracks. Has anyone ever done this in NY. and how did you go about it at DMV? I would love to be able to ride legally on snowmobile trails in the winter.

ill dig up the phone number of a friend of mine in our 6 wheeler club who has his registered as all three (atv,boat, and slead) and pm you in the next day or 2 he should be able to help.... i havent done it personaly yet

I live in Plattsburgh NY. It's about one hour north of Lake Placid or twenty five miles south of the Canadian border.
