    1997 MAX IV directions

Hey I have a 97 max IV I ran it for a long time as a kid as I went off to college and everything it sit at parents house collecting dust. It has now been about 8 years sitting there I have a need for it now and would like to get back running. I know one thing I need is a center sprocket which has been ate up during my adventures and lack of p.m. do you guys think i would be better to tear it down before I order the part to evaluate everything else or not. also do you guys have any other advise on things I should check before trying to operate it again?

I would go ahead and tear it down and replace all of the bearings and chain while you are in there. Service the transmission, engine, etc. Get everything to where it will be reliable again so you don't have to fix things as they break. That way it should give you lots of trouble free riding.

By the way, welcome to the site.
