    Muscateer is HOME!

Well on this last Sunday, my girlfriend Val, her 4yo son Dustin and daughter Kristen went to Grandforks to pick the Muscateer up. It was an uneventful trip and all went well.

Today I took it off the trailer and got Dustin to sit while I steered it off and drove it to the point I will be working on it.

I managed to snap a few pictures of it, Val shot the ones with Dustin and I in them.

Take a look this is out new AATV and I am very hopeful I can find some wheels and tyres inexpensive enough to get us out ASAP.

There is some small issues two small cracks in the upper body, easily repaired.

Val and I are thinking about replacing the two small bucket seats for a bench one that fits Dustin her and I.

The 12 HP Techumse engine needs to be bolted in a bit better and I think it needs some carb work to run better. I hope to get a small diesel for it instead perhaps one of the 10 HP from Princess Auto.

I tried to get some tranmission pictures that show it well, unfortunately I could not without lifting the seat and the screen covering the engine/trans.

Finally though it is painted a "Camo" pattern, I will be sanding and repainting in more appropriate Desert Camo pattern for this area we live in.

That is about it for now. I am trying to repair some of the tyres one is shot as it delaminated from the rim so it is toast. I can hopefully get the others working satisfactory for now.

I notice the axles have a grease fitting and a spring loaded seal on the ends. Not sure if that is normal but eh, I'll clean them up and lube them.

Going to find some guages and a bilge pump for the unit too.

I am looking for 3 - 5 bolt wheel adapters and cheap rims/tyres.

Let me know your thoughts and if anyone has any suggestions.

    Camo

I think that machine will look great in the camo colors. Bench seat also sounds like the way to go. Looks like you have a little work to do. Can't wait to see the final addition. Keep plugging and keep taking those pictures, love to see those old machines come back to life. Hope to find a older machine myself.
    Good Luck

    Hey RW,

That machine looks like it's in great shape. I don't know a thing about them but it looks like you found a nice one.

Thanks for all the encoragement. Ya I got a deal at $500 bucks ...runs and loaded it up just fine....needs some work for sure..but for 5 bills who cares...

I read in another forum on AATV's route 6x6 I think, that this is the "Black sheep" of the AATV world....oh well who cares...it was cheap and will be loads of fun....

Just gotta find out what kinda trans that is, and can I hook up a secondary trans for an overdrive?

    Hey there,
That seems to be a great looking machine. It appears to be have a hydraulic drive train??? Is that true? I believe "The One...The Only...Amphiman1" has one. If so he could help with any questions.
    Good luck with the project.

Black sheep or not, it's a really cool machine! It looks like yours is in pretty good shape, and you got a good deal on it, too. Good luck on the resto- keep us posted.
