    Gas Cap problem

My gas cap on my six was bad so I went to Fleet Farm and bought a new one. I didn't drive my wheeler for about 2 weeks. I went out riding and got about 2 miles away back in the woods when the machine died. I did all the checks to see why it didn't run. Without going into detail on all the things I did and fully knowing I wasn't getting gas because I had to choke it to try to get it to run, I turned the gas cap loose and heard a whoosh. So, with further testing and running it. In the short time I tested it. It ran good without the gas cap on. A brand new gas cap and it's not venting. Go figure. Something to keep in mind if you change a gas cap out for a new one. I don't know if there is anyway to test the caps when you get a new one, but I'm returning mine if they will take it back (gas on it now) and go to a parts place to get one.

My cap let a little gas out when side hillier right on a full tank or doing doughnuts on a full tank. I need a new one but wasn't sure if I had to order a special one from a dealer. And just haven't really worried about at this point. But will soon. Thanks for the info.

Some of them have adjustable vents on the top. If that is an option on yours, did you loosen the vent to allow some air in?

This one did not have the threaded screw type top. I believe all gas caps have some sort of vent system, otherwise you end up with a vacuum issue.
