It's not that bad with the engine in, have done many though not for a few years. Remove the brake duct so you can see a little and get the alt. in, when working through the hood you may need some eyes in your fingers but not that bad.
I had a dealer put mine in last month as looking at it now that it's in I'm sure it would have been relatively easy to do. Especially since I'd had the air intake and brake ducting all out a few days before dropping it off to dealer.
took the rad out after work today.looks like a doable job now.news at 11.
how hard was it to remove the rad? and did you make a mess doing it? Trying to install the brush guard kit atm.. that is another pain.. had to remove the tow hook in the front for it to go on.
rad comes out pretty easy.you have to remove bottom and top rad hose 4 bolts and its yours.rad has to come out before the shroud.once the rad is out the job can be seen in its entirety. managed to drain all the coolant into a small pail with no mess.i got the alternator bracketts on then stopped.i can only take so much touchy feely work before i freak out.lol
should be able to finish up tomorrow after work.hope this helps and good luck with your brush bar install dan.
oh gawd!this is a nasty job even with the rad out.should of pulled the engine for sure.wheres a train when you need to step out in front of one??????????lol
ok so after sitting back and thinking this through the install is done.with the rad out the brackets and alternator go in pretty easy.the instructions tell you to remove all the bolts from the fly wheel shroud but only take out the bigger ones.after you have the kit installed and the wires routed out of harms way re-connect the brake blower hose.then pop the grommets back through the fan shround and rad bracket.this can be slid back in as one unit if you pull the rubber ducting out of the way.slide the rad/shroud assembly in slightly from the front so the bottom rad fitting clears the bracket.after i put the hoses back on,re-connected the battery and put the coolant back in,the machine started and idled without the red light blinking.showed a full charge on the gauge.hope this helps someone else and sorry for not posting pictures but they showed nothing anyhow.
