I have started back on the max iv build. I ordered my bearings so I started cleaning the bearing housings. Replaced idler sprockets. I ordered a new transmission for the max. I ordered my tires and now have them mounted on my rims. I still need to repair one small hole in the lower tub. Once that is done I will drop the frame back in. Tomorrow I will finish up the transmission brackets on the frame. Lots to do but it will get done. Still need to order some #50 chain.

A little constructive criticism: I have done the split shift with a lever on each side of the seat before, and it seemed like a really good idea. In use, it was less than convenient.[IMG][/IMG]

On my latest project, I opted for the levers on the same side of the seat. The throttle being on the right hand stick, so shift levers on the left hand side, and close enough together so both can be moved at the same time.

Thats a nice set up on the split shift. I do like how they are on one side. I like any idea I can come across. I might need 4 hands to drive this thing when I'm done but its going to be fun.

I finished cleaning up all of the sprockets and bearing housings today. This Max sure has not been taken care of in the past. I also finished making my extra transmission support brackets. I tore down the 18 hp briggs last night. I wanted to see how bad the motor was. So far it looks pretty good. I will probably go ahead and install new rings and a new cam. I will be removing all of the old governor. Also found the stator was badly damaged with a few magnets on the flywheel. I'm still trying to decide on motor choices. I may go ahead and turn the 18 hp into some thing nasty or a great performance motor for back up as I go.

Well I cleaned all of my flangges for my bearings and sprocket s. My bearings came in yesterday so its time to go get all new bolts. I made new mounting brackets for the t20. The t20 wont go no where now. I will try and post some pics this week. I have got to go ahead and repir the small hole in the lower tube so I can put the frame back in. So I can put the axles in and see what my new tires look like on the max. Tires came in last week so I had them mounted on the rims. Im hoping my new t20 transmission will be here today. Im starting to see some progress so I am getting excited.

Well I power washed the lower tub out today and guess what I found......It looks like some one tried to see how many holes they could put in the bottom of the tub. I have spent several hours working on the tub with a heat gun. I was not sure about doing it, but I found a container made out of the same material. It worked out good. I had two big holes and a bunch of little holes. What a job, Now I am ready to drop the frame back in...
