Have you ever hit one hard enough to damage it? Like hydromike said, I would think that they would be easy to drag on a rock and rip off? Maybe it just looks that way in the picture.

My plugs have basically stripped. You can almost push them all the way in by hand and I am looking for somthing else. So it's either this or the ones that Whipper posted.

Thanks guys. So it seems like this is pretty much a universal set up. I think I might use these in all my machines. My left drain plug hole on my Max is pretty worn out and I have to put duct tape over it to be sure that it doesnt come out. That probably wasnt the best idea to do that when I was in the Erie Canal with my machine, but I had Hey_Dan78 with me just in case any underwater recovery operations needed to take place.

Today I bought two 3/4 inch , rubber freeze plugs , to use as drain plugs for my Max IV . Each drain plug has a bolt through the center of it , and a 7/16 nut on the other side . As you tighten the nut on the opposite side , this makes the rubber freeze plug squeeze together , thus expanding inside the Max drain plug hole . Other than using a wood drill ,to reem out the hole , in the lower tub of my Max,,what are some other options for making the hole size bigger ?

You can cut a clean hole with a wood spade bit in an existing hole.. if you give the bit something to center on. Like a piece of wood held inside the body over the hole. Or, run the bit through a 2x4, hold it to the outside of the body and and use it for a guide. Not as clean a hole as the first idea.
