    MaxII Gearing

I'm parting out my old red MaxII to build my green Northway Explorer. I plan to put tracks on it for the winter and powered with the Honda 20hp.
Do you think I should go with the larger of the 2 sets of jackshafts for lower gearing?

Gearing is the key. I switched output gearing from 15 teeth to 13 for my Max2 with 25/12/9 tires, what an improvement throughout the entire power band. I lost a couple miles per hour speed on the top end, but it was well worth it. This thing can slog now.

Well, I did, 5" spacers and the 18" Supertracks fit, but close.
It almost idled up my test hill.
    Should be a fun winter!

Got a bit of snow and tried out the tracks. Was good!
The supertracks took the same amount (54?) as an argo 6x6 with a bit more sag, but I don't want them too tight without bearing cages. Get a fair amount of slap from tracks on tub, even after some lower tub remolding. but no chain windup yet, just a short run so far.
    pic is from before snow.

It looks mean with the tracks on there.
