Chaparal G44B with a VM-40 Mikuni... so does it fit?
The answer is YES!!!
BUT just barely between my tranny and engine!
I finally found myself an intake boot(flange) that matched the spacing of my G44B's studs, AND was built for a VM-40mm Mikuni Carb... I looked for 3 hours in a trailer full of OLD snowmobile parts and a local dealership to find it. So, now I know, the flange, coincidentally was off of an old 440 snowmobile engine as well, it is from a 1980s Yamaha Exciter 440.
After talking to the dealer (who has been in the business for over 30 years) he informed me, that in MOST cases a Tillitson carb, delivers more fuel than an equivilant Mikuni, so he figured that my G44B would have NO trouble what so ever handling the VM-40 Mikuni, he also explained that I just could have jetted the VM-34, but he had no idea on the sizes.
