Just picked up a 1989 6 x 6 argo with the 16hp tecumseh engine. Originally it started fine, but the idle was set so high that the twist throttle was not working. Started to clean everything up, but now engine will not start (will turn over but will not idle).
There is an air screw on the side of the carb. Turn it in till it bottoms (gently), then turn it out one turn. Start the engine and set the idle as low as you can to keep it idling. Adjust the idle airscrew in or out till it idles good. Set the idle to where the machine can be shifted easily with out grinding. If the engine hesitates when you open the throttle then the airscrew needs to be opened up a little bit. Adjust the idle accordingly.
