    250 Single in an 8x8...?

    Hey guys!

Okay, so call me desperate, but the 440 Chap is killing my wallet everytime I go out for a swamp run!

I am only running the 34mm Mikuni on it, and it burns almost a full tank of gas within 50kms...

Soo, I was wondering, woulsd a 250cc Single cylinder Rotax 12hp engine work in it?

All I know is that it would be a lot eaiser on gas then... lol

    Thanks

You would be better off installing a Clone 16 hp for the money. Or a briggs v twin would be easier as you could use some Argo ducting and exhaust.

Yes, well I am just wondering if I the 250 would do for now, I am working to save up for a V-Twin 18hp Kohler.

have you tried leaning out the jetting on the mickuni??? would have to be cheaper than the swap. new jets would probably help too. i also know from experience (snow machine that is) that you could also rebuild the drive clutch. That is where you loose the most efficiency. Seems to me like you would have to run that poor little 250 wide open to get it to do what the 440 normally does.

You could also go with a Mikuni VM30, You will loose a bit of top end. it has the same 40mm spigot.
