I HAVE A MAX IV AND I WAS CRUISING UP THE RIVER TO TEST OUT MY BILGE PUMP I JUST PUT IN AND I STARTED TO TAKE IN LOTS OF WATER, SO I PULLED UP ON A BOAT RAMP AND SAW WATER COMING OUT NEXT TO ONE OF MY AXLES. (POURING OUT). SHOULD I REPLACE ALL OF THEM OR JUST THE ONE SEALED BEARING THATS BAD?

Hello Custom Max,
Replacing all the bearings would be a good idea with the logic of one going bad others must be. But possible dont need to. I would check the others out and if they seem good leave them alone. Maybe the one bad one just had some sort of defect or something tore the seal or what ever. Maybe order two bearings just in case and you would have a spare for when you do need it.

I had that same dilemma about two years ago. I just replaced the one bearing that was leaking. I really didn't use the Max much after that until last year. After only a few rides a couple of the other ones started going bad and were leaking so this past summer I replaced them all. Now I have no leaks at all in the Max II. The only time water gets in is if I lean it far enough for the muffler to go all the way under. Then a few ounces gets in around the exhaust.

I have now put some high temp silicone around that so we will see how well it does next time out.

Ultimately it's your decision of course but I would probably go ahead and replace all of them including the inner bearings if you have them. That way you have no worries at all and can enjoy years of trouble free use as long as you keep everything greased. thanks alot for the information,I belive it is a 2001 modle.The person said he did not ride in the water,just in mud and sand, who knows but it was very apperant that it wasn't used much.So I take it the bearings are what seals the axels? Any way ,thanks alot

On the Max you have sealed bearings. They can be damaged by pumping in to much grease or when riding a wire or piece of plastic or fishing line or something like that can get wrapped up into the bearing a damage the seal.

Replacing thm depends on you. How long you want to have it down and how much work you want to do. I put tripple sealed bearing back in when I do a replacement.
