I have a set of 13" plastic tracks for my 6x6 bigfoot and was wondering before I go to the trubble of trying to fit them on my Argo and buying tires, how well do they work in soft powdery snow ? I don't want to waste time or money trying to fit them if they will not perform . Ihope I dont have to buy an expensive set of bigger tracks if I don't need them.
if anyone has experiance with the 13' tracks in snow I would appreciate any feed back
I don't have tracks but I got a bigfoot and have bin wonderin if I can get tracks over those big tires??? Do u have the rawhide III tires on yours? They seem to do pretty good w/out tracks but in snow tracks would do way more
i have an 01 bigfoot and i have the rawhides on it...25x12x9. i just got supertacks for it in july. i jumped on them because they came with tires and rims...22x10x8 runamucks. the big rawhides don't work with the tracks. you will need smaller tires. the same goes for the adair tracks on bigfoots anyway not sure about the newer models. i haven't tried my tracks yet but if you go on youtube and look up argo with tracks you'll see plenty of videos . that's all i can offer.
I have a few sets of tracks, and would have to say that the 13" Plastic are not all that good in deep Powder Snow. They will get you around, but trying to turn too sharp will just sink one side of the machine, turns must be gradual. Hills will be a problem, 13" Plastic will not climb, they will just spin the snow out from under them.
It's really going to depend on what you call POWDER Snow. If the tracks will old the machine up enough so that the tub is not plowing too much, you will be OK. But, if the snow is light enough that the machine plows snow on level ground, I feel you will be disipointed in the end result.
I agree with Rock Doctor. I have a set of 13" tracks I run on my Conquest & they do alright but we really don't usually get super deep stuff here in Indiana. With tracks you get less ground pressure (aka. sinking) with more contact area put to the ground. I have a 8000lbs skid loader that runs 18" rubber tracks & it will "float" across the ground that a wheeled skid loader would sink. The 13" track will certainly take me places that my wheels won't but I certainly wouldn't try to get into anything super deep & powdery without having a winch point near by to pull myself out when I sink. - Ozzy
