Upgrade from Kohler 20 to 25

Could anybody tell me the shaft size of a Kohler CH20. Are the shaft sizes all the same or do they vary depending on application?
I'm looking to get a Kohler 25 HP and it has got a 1 1/16" shaft. No easy way to measure mine without pulling the belt off.

Hi tony HAPPY THANKSGIVING most of the shafts from what I see are 1 inch up to 18 or 20 HP then after that 1 1/16 but that also depends on the engine. always double check shaft size but you can buy clutches for 1 or 1 1/16 inch not a problem either way I'm looking at a 25 HP and it has a 1 inch shaft I guess you never know. you can measure clutch diameter by taking the center bolt out then put a micrometer inside to get your measurement that way you don't have to take off your belt or your clutch good luck

    hi ,
It really depends upon the fitment application with a kohler . All the kohlers i have are an odd size shaft. You need to check 100% prior to a purchase etc . 23 hp B & S also come with a 1 inch shaft if u order the correct spec no. but typically 1 1/8

Is it possible to swap shafts without tearing the whole motor apart?
