Anyone livin in Alaska? Know where the good land is?

Just wondering if anyone here is from Alaska...if so, what are the best sites to use to find land for sale? I am from Texas and I have gone up to Alaska several times but I was just wondering if anyone knows of good sites to use so I can get a better idea of where the cheaper land is going to be.

The prices that I am looking to pay (about $1000 per acre) will put me in the Bush, but what are the best sites to use to find this land?

So far I have these sites:

    University of Alaska Land Management

Alaska's List - (Kind of like the Craigslist of Alaska

Over the Counter Land Sales - Alaska Department of Natural Resources

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Also, next time I go up there (mid July) I am wondering where I should be looking to figure out where all the deals are...should I go with a realtor or something? Sorry, I am 25 years old and trying to live out a dream haha!

here is a couple of links for you to check out.

I would find a prospective area that is of interest to me then I would do an internet search, maybe find some locals on a forum to talk to about the area, a realitor will give you some idea of the place but you have to remember they are looking for a sale. Then nothing can beat just spending some time in the area talk to locals.

To my buddy from texas: DONT PAY FOR LAND. RD is in the right track, just go out, find some simi precous mineral. and stake a claim. Now you can rite off your argo... or max, or buffalo truck, a dozer and plane tickest back and forth AND IT IS GOING TO BE FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
