Question 15 hp honda clone engine

Hello i am installing a 15 hp honda clone [all power] to replace a tired tecumseh and i hooked up a mikuni fuel pump to the engine by installing a pulse line in the upper part of engine base to work the pump.It seems to work delivering fuel from the tank under the seat but i think there is too much pressure for the carb float to shut off as the fuel seems to leak a small bit at the carb, wondering if i should add a return linr to the tank.Wondering if anyone ever tried this before, the tecumseh was a16 hp so i was thinking that the 15 would be alright. Also have the exhaust to reconnect and slight modification to the engine hood.Would appreciate some comments on the engine swap and any advice would be appreciated.Thank you fellow forum members.

You could run a return line, but I would check your float first. I have not heard of anyone running a return line on a pulse pump only an electric. The pulse pumps work good enough to run 3 engines off of a single pump, but the floats should prevent overflow. I am not sure your return line is the solution though. You might even have a pin hole in the float. I would start by checking that out first and go from there.

Member (toys4me) Mike had the same issue. The clone motor was meant for the tank mounted on it and the float spring is weak. I think he just stretched his a little instead of replacing it with a genuine honda spring, but either way should work.

I stretched the spring and still was to much pressure. Ended up putting a "T" and running a return line. Works great.

did you install a tee in the supply line andrun back to the tank.If so did you install another fitting in the tank on the top of the tank or the side of the tank for the return line? You didn't need to restrict the return line with a metering valve . do you find the clone engine strong enough for the argo?

I put a "T" before the carb. I put the straight part of the "T" to the carb and the offset back to the tank. I put a fitting on the side of the tank at the top. This setup worked like a charm and did the same on my dads engine as well. I also put a fuel filter after the "T" at the carb so I can see there is plenty of gas to keep the float bowl full. It's kind of hard to see but here is what I did.
