    Stator wiring for 399 kohler

    Hello

I have just installed a rebuilt 399 Kohler 2T into my 1986 Argo

I was hoping someone may be able to help me with the electrical wiring coming from my stator.

I have just installed the new rectifier and just trying to run the wiring that comes from the stator plate to the correct locations.

I have two yellow leads and two black leads. I am sure that the two yellow leads are to run to the two #51 connectors on the rectifier ....and then from the #53 connectors on the rectifier, one will go to the light switch and one to the starting solenoid. My system is 75 watts and has a separate light switch.

I am not sure how to run the two black leads...i think they are for the engine shut off...but i am not too sure where to connect them.

The schematic shows two leads coming from each ignition coil connecting to the starter switch....but my black leads are coming from the stator. I was thinking that those 2 black leads should connect to the ignition coils also and the from the ignition coils to the starter key switch.

I was hoping that maybe someone would be able to help me with a diagram or explain the wiring set up for me or let me know if i am close to the correct setup.

    Thanks
    Barry

The 2 black wires from the engine will kill the ignition if connected together .....usually when the key switch in the off position.
    The manual is here:

    Thanks Bazooo Guy

I have the same manual with the wiring schematic Fig 4-3

But it does not show the two black wires coming from the stator in that diagram.

But as i mention it does show two wires coming from each coil connecting to the ignition switch off position...does not indicate the color but I am assuming these serve the same purpose. I have no extra wires coming from my coils to the ignition.

So...I guess what i am wondering is if i connect these two black wires directly to the ignition switch some how.

Yes normally the black wires connect to the ignition switch terminal 31b and 31.....if you have the correct switch.
I used a regular normally open toggle switch as a kill switch.
