    Thanks JP nice thread. I interpret it as calling for higher rpm for speed increase...............clever.

    Thanks. Glad it helped you. The red spring, I think, would be great for your 23HP Vanguard. It'll make it feel like a bulldozer. It basically keeps in low range/low gear longer compared to the green spring. It gives you more of a range of low end power basically, but still opens up and gives you the speed too.

    My Max II has the 23 hp. Kohler Command.

    It'll work great with the 23HP Command or the Briggs Vanguard.
