What is the best way to repair spark plug threads.
I pulled a spark plug from my rotax head and noticed part of the threads from the head was still on the plug.
I always use anti seize on the threads and torque them but part of the thread in the head is gone.
Was thinking of a heli coil to repair it.
Not sure how well they work or if there is a better way.

my vote would be a heli-coil insert. had to do a couple in my race bikes .......30 years ago........crap.getting old sux...anyway heli-coil then you have stainless steel threads for your plugs to thread into.
I like the heli coil as opposed to the solid inserts. Found to many stuck to a plug,never found a backed out coil that had the correct length plug in it.
heli coil fast ,easy ,do it yourself. permanent fix !!
There is a company that makes a repair kit. It is basically a threaded tube that has a flange for the plug to sit on and the tool flares the internal section to make sure it doesn't move later.
Heli-Coil, I've installed thousands of them in everything from engines to transmissions and they are a fast, easy and permanent fix. They are actually built ever so slightly over sized so that they are drawn in or shrunk as you install them, once you get them in and release tension they expand and grip the threads you tap for them, which locks them into the hole. I wish I had been the guy who invented them...
