Welded outer axles for huslter springer project

Im installing a rotax 503 into my hustler and am using Yamaha rhino heavy duty outer axles, they need to be shortened by about 3 inches, if all 6 are shortened and re-welded do you guys think they would be strong enough with the rotax? I found a site for custom length but they are $300 a piece

Do you need to just move the wheel hub in by 3 inches? I'm not familiar with what the Rhino axles look like, but can you just cut the hub off the axle, chop your 3" off and reweld the hub on? If you're referring to cutting 3" out of the center of the axle and rewelding it together because you need to change the CV joint location, then "no". It won't hold up to any level of abuse.
