Hate to hear that, seems the older we get the harder it is to get hired into a new job. There is one thing we acquire along the way though, tenacity! Keep at it, something will come along just for you.

Thanks guys. I'm on the search again! Seems like us older folks aren't appreciated much these days. Gotta go with the younger ones I guess. They don't know what their missing…Haha.

it sounds like you have plenty of security experience, have you tried looking at contractor jobs overseas? I have been an independent contractor for 10 years now and I work 3 months on 3 months of. works great for me. company.s like DynCorp international are always hiring. plus there are lots of security company's doing OCONUS(outside continental US) work. I am in Aviation myself so my rotation is unique, most company's will want you to sign a 1 year contract but it is better than loosing a house. the pay can range from 100k a year to 300k per year, Im doing 130k plus for 6 months work. and being home 6 months a year not working is awesome.
if you sign up for a 1 year gig then the first 98k or so your federal tax is exempt.

    Good luck

You know I have thought about that, but I'm not sure it would work. I had an offer when I was a Corrections Officer to go to IRAQ and work for 2 years. They wanted experienced officers to go over and train and help build new prisons. I would've had to sign a two year deal. I heard about alot of bad things going on over there and I was concerned about my safety. So, I forgot about it for the mean time.

UPDATE !! Hey all, thanks for all the best wishes. I finally got a job. I work for a Equipment business that sells lawnmowers, chainsaws, weed trimmers, tractors, Docks, brushcutters - well you get the idea. I put the new stuff together, wash equipment and do generally the gopher stuff. It's pretty physical for an older guy like me but it's money coming in. I'm glad because it's 5 minutes from my house and a fairly good group of people that work there. At least I look forward to going to work everyday. Thanks again everyone.

Thank you. And I really couldn't ask for more. Weekends off. Take off when ever I really need to, with no problem. I will get alot of time off in the winter which may be good and may be bad. But at least it's a job for now. I really like the people there and they are at least so far fun to work with. Pretty happy at this point. It was looking pretty bleak for awhile.
