chain tension: better little tight or little loose?
Because those Max II slide adjusters move from notch to notch rather than continuously, it doesn't seem possible to dial in what I consider a good chain tension. At 1 notch, the chain is floppy, maybe 1.5" loose play. At the very next notch, it's banjo string with no 'free play' whatsoever, although I can pull the recommended play with minimal force. I'd rather not have to pull though, I'd be more comfortable with that 1/2" being loose play with a 1 finger wiggle. Know what I mean? Then again, maybe I shouldn't be thinking about it like a bike since this is a machine without a suspension. Any thoughts? thanks
