I just tore one down the other day and still have the old gaskets. I measured one used gasket and it ranges from .010 to .013 inches. If you are trying to do some super fine calculations, remember it takes 2 gaskets.

New gaskets measure .015 inch. The gaskets give the trany its internal clearance. Without them the end play can be to tight to turn. I've seen this on ones assembled with gasket maker.

Thanks guys , answers some of my issues with my box, it was "stuck" with gasket maker and not the actual gaskets, i would have assumed that they have an effect on the end play as they should sit either side of the centre disc.

Apart from anything else is was a pain to split as with the large surface area it was stuck fast , even the bolts had to be driven out.

And am i the only one who has feelings of extreme dislike to whoever decided it would be a good idea to use clips with no "ears" to hold the bearings !!
