    Conquest primary clutch weights

    Looking for advice please.
I'm servicing the primary clutch of my '99 Conquest. As can be seen in the pic, it appears that the weights have made contact with the cone.

How do I prevent this wear?

Do I need to replace these weights?

    Thanks in advance!

Looking at that picture I'd guess you have some time on that machine and the clutch is running out of balance. The weights are wore, the blocks look wore and I'd bet the cone is wore, either look into replacing all or a new clutch as parts are not cheap and keep that as a spare.. Or run it til it goes, we had one puke one block in the 90s, vibrated like crazy but made it back, block was cracked bad.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

Thanks Jim. The argo has 480 hours on it. I see rub/sliding marks on the blocks and cones, but will examine more closely for wear based on your advice.
What causes the unbalance? Suggestions for a replacement?

As an aside, the engine is on my workbench...been trying to get the clutch off the crank for a few days now. Read the old thread on here about clutch removal on the conquest.
Based on that tread, I've decided now is the time to wrestle that bear, just in case I ever need to remove it while the engine is IN the Argo.
Noting your caution of how the sheave can/will easily bend, I've put some 1/4"x1" flatbar under the hook of each jaw. The Allen bolt is out, been soaking in AC/Delco penetrating fluid, and Krown penetrating fluid, have applied heat with a propane torch....and on some occasions a heat gun, all while keeping pressure on the puller.

Sure is a great lesson in patience....
