I love the smell of Blendzall in the morning
My Dad picked one of these up a few years back and it was powered by an opposed Briggs 16-horse. I've got to say that it was pretty fun, but it certainly fit the "death trap" label bestowed on a lot of three-wheeled machines from the 70s and 80s. It had an Apex transmission in it, so it had reverse, but you had to reach around and contort your upper half to get in there to shift it, even with the stock shifter assembly. It was just as fast in reverse as it was in forward.
I honestly don't doubt his estimate of speed in the ad. If he found a long enough straightaway and had a couple pints of courage beforehand that JLO single might just do it. The 16hp unit would do 35-40 no sweat. It was damn twitchy.
Edit: I see he claims it's more stable than a quad. I'm not so sure, but our unit had the bench seat on it, so perhaps the lower seating afforded by the single seat raises the stability factor by 50 or so. That's about what it'd take. I feel safer in a Coot, a machine which I have a very poor safety history in.
