    Amphicat transmission dissasembly

Hey, new here to the forum! Picked up an amphicat model 500121 in very good shape. Original Sachs engine, everything runs great. Has transmission that has 2nd and 1st gear, neutral, and reverse. Noticed when i got it that it was hard to engage gears. Was driving then all of a sudden engine rev'd like it kicked into neutral. I tried to move the lever to put it back in gear, but now the lever moves freely and it won't engage into any gear at all. I'm trying to take everything apart, but have no clue how to get this transmission out, as the axle runs through it. I did get the top off, and noticed the chain was broke. Anyone have any insight? I also can't figure out how to get the top of the body off, as it's glued together. Do you have to heat the glue to get it apart? I'm afraid of damaging the body, as it's in great shape. I will include some pics...

there is a guy on another 6x6 forum that recently rebuilt a Amphicat that would be a good resource to ask. I believe he had his transmission torn down then rebuilt it..
go to the forum and ask the same question and he will chime in and help.
