    T20 assembly help

Assembling the t20 but when placing the center plate it won’t sit flush on the clutch side against the case and gasket. About 1/4 “ raised. Not on the band pin, sun gear and washers all fit below the final c clip. I haven’t tried booting it all together for fear of ruining something but when the two halves are put together it won’t sit flush. I’ve put it together a couple times same thing. Any suggestions? Is my input shaft too far into the case?

First thought is the input shaft is sitting on the bench. I have a hole in mine to place transmission shafts through. If you still don’t see it you can text me at 907-388-8582.

I’ll try it later tonight thanks. Yeah my input shaft/clutch was on the the bench under it. But even when I laid it horizontal and tried to put the two cases together there was a small quarter in gab on the clutch side if I can’t get it I’ll text you I appreciate that.

When you do go together with the other half I’ve e found a long Phillip’s screwdriver through a bolt hole makes a handle and guide pin. Don’t bolt halves together until sure it’s siting on the gaskets.

I always drop the clutch side of tranny down in the other half. Use the screw driver in a bolt hole to wiggle the two half’s together to get the band pin to drop in the center plate hole with a “clunk”. They can be a bugger sometimes.

Make sure the band anchor pin didn't come out of the case side, rather than the center plate. This will keep the halves from seating correctly.
