    Transmission questions

    Hey all,
Just using my Argo last evening, and all of a sudden, the machine started acting up, in the way of the transmission seemed to be almost locking up, in both forward and reverse. This happened while I was a good distance away from my house, so I did manage to get the machine home by way of driving it.
The engine compartment heated up relatively quicker than normal, and there was a smell like burning grease.

This morning I hit the garage, with intentions of finding what could be the problem, I checked the transmission fluid, clutches seemed fine, but after I lubed up the chains, and checked the machine over, I again tried to put it into gear, but it was still very difficult to engage, in both High, and Low, also when engaged to reverse, it would pop out of gear on its own.

Has anyone else ever had this problem with their transmission ?

I have a 2017 Argo Frontier 8x8. Not the Admiral Transmission

Thanks for any and all replies.

Without driving it, almost seems like a differential issue. May be best to see you dealer.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

Had the same symptoms with my 2012 Avenger. When the mechanic took the transmission apart he found that a sealed bearing on the reverse idler shaft had disintegrated and the chunks had messed everything else up. Had to replace the whole transmission. I understand that Argo has changed the type of bearing from sealed to open so the transmission oil can lubricate it.
