Question - Idler chain sprocket movement question - 2017 Frontier EFI 6x6

    Hi,

Please pardon the stupid question, I've searched the service manual and cannot find an answer.

I was doing my pre-season maintenance and noticed the idler chain sprockets (both right and left) are not fixed in place. Is this supposed to be like this? I wasn't able to upload the video, but attached a pic of the sprocket I am speaking about. There is right to left travel along the shaft of about 1/4" or so. Both the right side and left side sprockets have this travel.

    Thank you.

I beleive so but not sure on your particular model. I have a bigfoot and the front sprockets and idlers are floating on axle.
download a parts manual and service manual for your machine it will tell you a lot. Beaver Damn argo used to have them free on their site.

found the parts diagram very useful when I went through my drive train refurb.
