I picked up a 2000 Conquest last month after my neighborhood flooded after Hurricane Ian. Now that it's going to be more for fun and not a transportation necessity, I'd like to add an outboard motor. What are my mounting options since the manufacturer's bracket has been discontinued?
Or if someone has a 618-10 bracket they'd like to sell, please PM me.

What I have done as I changed models over the years and got tired of buying outboard motor brackets that were designed for long shaft was to build a unit that fit in my trailer hitch receiver with a kicker plate to raise and lower using my short shaft motors mind you not loading a heavy motor on 5hp or so and it has worked for years for me there is a pic of it in my gallery I don't know how to move it to this thread check it out.
I have a motor mount, and it's great in water. The problem is that I want to be able to drive across tuff terrain with the motor attached, but the motor mount just isn't strong enough. My Argo dealer was going to reinforce it, by somehow using the frame, but he died. I still haven't solved the problem, but I am still thinking about it.
I built a mount that goes to the 2" receiver and comes up over the "transom" to stop it deflecting and potentially bending something. The motor is on a quick mount so it just slides right in when I'm ready. I run a 4 hp mercury thunderbolt 2 stroke probley weighs about 35 - 40 pounds. No way I'm bouncing thorough the bush with it mounted.
Facemelter I the same had a 6 hp old evinrude 2 smoke that was light what I did in transport was to use a rachet strap from the motor to the seat back tube and pull any slack out of the mount and transported it in place many many miles over a 30 year period with no issue.Cheers
One other quick note by the read of the original post this fellas requirement is for a emergency situation one thing I learned at my cabin I would keep a machine in my boat house one spring after a particularly snowy winter during spring meltdown breakup the river system we were on the ice jammed down stream in a set of narrows it rained at the same time almost biblical purportions and the river rose half the hieght of the boathouse thankfully I had left the drain plugs in the machine and it floated to the ceiling and no damage to speak of had the plugs been out huge issues jus saying.Cheers
Hey NCT good idea with the ratchet straps I'll have to try that. I'm trying to post pictures of what I made up but this site is a bit of a PITA to do that. I might try adding them to my gallery, it might be a bit more forgiving. And that's lucky in your boat house I always pull my plugs when I park my machines... I would have been f*#%$ed. Lol
