    starter solenoid

    is it better for the solenoid not to be mounted right on the starter of my 21 hp briggs motor ? thanks guys , jboy

    it was before...but maybe that's why it died . don't think it was that old . jb

    I would say if you can mount it elsewhere then do so. Saving it from the vibrations of the engine would be beneficial. But, I have had a fairly new solenoid fail. You never can tell.

    thanks buddy ....i think that is the best bet . i guess that's why the cable going from the starter to the solenoid is so short . jboy

    Seems all the newer engines come that way now, in my opinion the oval style solenoid is junk and short often but they work til they don't. If you want to put it down on the engine mount bars like before make sure its grounded well and I would get a automotive style from standard that will last damn near forever.


    My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.
